The source of the intense fire that occurred at the Malang Plaza shopping center on Jalan Agus Salim, Klojen District, Malang City, East Java, which occurred on Tuesday (2/5) in the early hours of the morning, is thought to have come from the third floor.

Malang Mayor Sutiaji explained, based on initial data received from the Malang City Fire Department, the source of the fire was strongly suspected to have come from the third floor and occurred at around 00.30 WIB.

"Temporary information (fire) is thought to have come from the third floor, the condition has run out," said Sutiaji as quoted by ANTARA.

Sutiaji explained, to extinguish the fire that burned one of the shopping centers close to the Malang City Square area, there were approximately 13 fire engines deployed.

According to him, as many as 13 fire engines came from the Malang City Government, Malang Regency Government, and Batu City Government. Officers have carried out a cooling process at the shopping center on Tuesday morning.

"Wetting is done, on the second floor," he said.

Firefighters have wetted each side of the building so as not to spread to other buildings around the shopping center. For information, Malang Plaza is in a row of shopping center complexes.

"Wetting has been done so as not to spread to other buildings," he said.

Regarding the value of the loss due to the fire, the Malang City Government will coordinate with the management and management of the shopping center. This includes ensuring how many business actors are affected.

"We will coordinate and establish a complaint post, how many are affected. There are approximately 60-70 kiosks, later we will identify them with management including losses," he said.

Malang Plaza shopping center caught fire in the early hours of Tuesday (2/5/2023) at around 00.30 WIB. The shopping center is one of the centers for buying and selling mobile phones and there are also retail clothes and cinemas.
