DLHK Intervenes To Search For The Cause Of Thousands Of Dead Fish Suddenly In The Krueng Nagan Aceh River

NAGAN RAYA - The Environmental and Hygiene Service (DLHK) of Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh Province, is investigating the cause of the death of thousands of freshwater fish along the Krueng Nagan river basin (DAS) that has occurred since Monday, April 24. "We have taken water samples to be tested in the laboratory," said Head of DLHK Nagan Raya Regency Teuku Zeddy Surachman in Suka Makmue, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, April 26. The inspection of the water sample aims to determine the cause of the death of thousands of ikar in the Nagan River (Krueng), after the occurrence of natural disasters, strong winds accompanied by overflowing river flows in the area, when this area was hit by heavy rains. Teuku Zeddy said that his party did not know for sure the cause of the death of thousands of fresh water in the largest river in Nagan Raya Regency. The Nagan Raya Regency Government hopes that with the inspection of the water sample, it will later find out the cause of the death of thousands of freshwater fish in this area. There are also locations where thousands of freshwater fish die in the Krueng Nagan flow, starting in Beutong District, East Seunagan District to the Seunagan District, Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh. Teuku Zeddy also said that the large number of freshwater fish that died along the river was also taken by the community for daily food.

"Is this freshwater fish dead due to environmental pollution due to mercury, or natural causes, or other causes, we can't confirm yet," he said.
