KPK: Our Society Is Being Tested By Money

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) reminds that corruption is a problem for all people in the country. Money is now one of the tests that must be faced by them. This was conveyed by the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, when he visited the Office of the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI) on Thursday, April 13 yesterday. He said, the test for today's people is no longer a matter of independence like in the past. "Our people are currently being tested by money. So our test is no longer in the form of alcohol, but is money," said Ghufron, quoted from his written statement, Friday, April 14. The KPK wants DMI to be able to help them to prevent corrupt practices in Indonesia. One way, said Ghufron, is that the preacher and imam at the mosque can give lectures discussing the spirit of anti-corruption. "The awareness and common understanding of spreading integrity and anti-corruption culture is the responsibility of all of us, including DMI. This must be a social movement, not just the interests of the KPK. At least the material of the sermon can convey anti-corruption," he said. "The mosque is a place of prostration for us to Allah. So leaving the mosque should be able to provide benefits. That's the spirit we really want," continued Ghufron. Meanwhile, the Deputy for Campaign Education and Community Participation (Dikpermas) of the KPK, Wawan Wardiana, stated that DMI's participation in building an anti-corruption culture is needed. Moreover, Islam is the majority religion in the country.

The hope is that they can help build integrity in the community. "A person will not commit corruption because he has a strong faith and does not waver with various temptations," said Wawan. During this visit, Ghufron signed a cooperation agreement with the General Chairperson of DMI Jusuf Kalla. These two institutions will seek to build an anti-corruption culture with religious channels.
