JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) distributed food packages to thousands of online motorcycle taxi drivers or motorcycle taxi drivers and base motorcycle taxis. The distribution is carried out around the Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta, Thursday, April 13.

Based on observations, President Jokowi, who was reviewing the distribution of the basic necessities, was seen waving at the motorcycle taxi drivers who were queuing.

Jokowi also seemed to smile back when a motorcycle taxi driver called his name.

Meanwhile, the traffic situation on Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara was observed to be congested due to the queue for the distribution of basic necessities. In fact, the queue of motorcycle taxi drivers seemed to spread to Jalan Veteran III.

A number of joint officers from the TNI and Polri also regulated the traffic and smooth running of motorcycle taxi drivers who had received basic necessities. The motorcycle taxi drivers who received basic necessities were also marked by smearing their fingers with ink.

One of the online motorcycle taxi drivers named Eko admitted that he was crossing Jalan Juanda. He didn't even know there was a plan to distribute groceries.

"I came from the direction of Tanah Abang, I wanted to take orders, then through Juanda, like someone was gathering together, I just followed, I didn't know what was wrong, I didn't know there was a distribution of basic necessities," said Eko.

Eko also admitted that he was happy and immediately brought the basic necessities containing rice, cooking oil and sugar to the house.

The distribution of basic necessities was part of Jokowi's work agenda on Thursday, April 13. Apart from the Merdeka Palace, Jokowi also distributed food packages in the Pasar Minggu area, South Jakarta, after reviewing the prices of basic commodities.
