When Josh Klinghoffer Becomes A Pearl Drummer In Hours

JAKARTA - For the third time since May 2022, member of the Pearl Jam tour Josh Klinghoffer has been called up to play drums in a short time on September 13 evening at Fort Worth, Tx., at a time when Matt Cameron has not recovered from the COVID-19 attack.

Cameron's illness, along with frontman Eddie Vedder who was battling the flu, appeared to have caused Pearl Jam to postpone her Sunday show outside Indianapolis.

Vedder feels good enough to perform on stage tonight, but Cameron's ongoing recovery process has prevented him from performing. Come on, Klinghoffer.

Unlike last year in faraway and aired, Ca., when he shared drumwork with Richard Stuverud and original drummer Pearl Jam, Dave Krusen, Klinghoffer played the entire show at Fort Worth, where 27 songs and 155 minutes were the longest duration of a short U.S. Pearl Jam's fall tour so far.

Among the rares are the performances of Satan's Bed's third song from Vitalogy's 2016 album and the second from Yield's Pilate since 2018. Six songs were played from Yield, with the only song on the set list released after 1998 being Mind Your Manners, from the 2013 Lightning Bolt.

Klinghoffer joined Pearl Jam as a tour member in early 2020 on time to participate in spring tour exercises to support the album Gigaton, but when the show was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he had to wait until September 18, 2021 to actually perform with the band in front of the audience at the Sea.Hear.Now festival in New Jersey.

This multi-instrumentalist previously served as the main guitarist at the Red Hot Chili Peppers from 2009 to 2019, when he was replaced by original guitarist John Frusciante. He is also a lifelong fan of Pearl Jam who has a drum device used by former Jack Irons members on the albums No Code and Yield.
