Skid Row Recipe Lasts Nearly 4 Decades, Dave "Snake" Saba: Must Have The Ability To Listen

JAKARTA - When appearing on the "Appette For Distortion" podcast, Dave "Snake" Saba revealed the things he had learned about having a relationship with bassist Rachel Bolan and guitarist Scotti Hill for 36 years on SKid Row.

"You have to really have the ability to listen. It's very important to listen and make every effort to understand where other people or others come from," Snake said.

"Like, what is the basis of their point of view? And to respect that you have to respect it, because if not, then what is the point of doing business with them and establishing this relationship?" he continued.

Snake emphasized that music is an emotional expression. However, the three come together because they find similarities not only in the music they love, but also the truest form of expression for them as individuals.

"Are we socially awkward or feel like outsiders who don't fit in with us and we may not be able to verbally express that feeling," he said.

"I know that's what happened to me. When I found the guitar, it became my voice. And it's still happening today. Thankfully, over the years, I've been a little bit more good at talking than I used to be, but music is still the real voice."

'Creating music and writing songs is a very selfish act, in a good sense, because it means what you say and what you write according to your heart and soul,' explains Sabo.

Furthermore, the guitarist stated, Skid Row never wrote songs to the audience or to the audience; they wrote with the hope that SKid Row would get a audience.

"And then after we did, we still maintained the same point of view and attitude, because it was the purity and honesty of this band," he added.

"And we've maintained it throughout our careers, good or bad. So that's how we express ourselves to this day."
