BMW Group Will Adopt Tesla Superchargers Starting in 2025

JAKARTA- The BMW Group announced that it will adopt the North American Charging Standard (NACS) from Tesla, for its electric vehicle products sold in the United States and Canada starting in 2025.

This step was taken as a continuous effort to provide the best experience regarding charging electric vehicles for all users.

Not only BMW models, but Mini will also be equipped with a combined charging system in the United States and Canada, in order to gain direct access to Supercharger charging stations in the same year.

"Our main priority is ensuring drivers have easy access to fast charging," said Sebastian Mackensen, President & CEO, BMW America, quoted from the InsideEV page, Wednesday, October 18.

As is known, the BMW Group has a fairly large range of electric vehicles which includes the BMW i4, i5, and i7 sedans, the BMW iX SUV, and the Mini Cooper Electric city car, in addition to upcoming models such as the Mini Aceman EV crossover and many more.

"This agreement is our latest effort forward to expand charging options, as we move towards electrification," he added.

With this official announcement from the BMW Group, the list of car manufacturers that have not yet used the NACS system has narrowed, such as the Volkswagen Group, Toyota, and Stellantis.

Meanwhile, several well-known brands have already used the Tesla charging system, such as General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, and Mercedes-Benz, for the same reason to make things easier for customers.
