Extreme Weather, PLN Jakarta Raya Increases Preparedness In Jabodetabek
JAKARTA - The rainy season has entered the Jabodetabek area, especially Jakarta, marked by the recent increasing rainfall.
To anticipate the extreme weather that may occur, PLN Jakarta Raya's Main Distribution Unit (UID) held a standby rally at the Pluit Reservoir Pump House, North Jakarta on Tuesday, November 14 morning.
The purpose of the apple is checking equipment and personnel readiness in order to improve the governance of PLN services.
General Manager of PLN UID Jakarta Raya Lasiran while leading an extreme weather alert meeting revealed that PLN has prepared personnel, equipment, and Standard Operational Procedure (SOP) for the 2023 Flood Alert.
"Since 2020, we have mitigated flood-prone substations by raising distribution substations to raising installations," said Lasiran in a written statement.
PLN is working with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Water Resources Office to ensure that the electricity supply to all pump houses is in reliable condition because during the rainy season the pump house arrives on standby.
General Manager of PLN UID Jakarta Raya Lasiran conducted a direct review of the Pluit Reservoir Pump House accompanied by Head of Maintenance of the North Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-dept., Yursid Suryanegara to ensure the electricity supply and reliability of pump houses.
A total of 2,148 personnel have been alerted, consisting of operational officers at the Main Office, Implementing Unit, technical service officers, and Voluntary Workers (PDKB). The officers are spread over 18 standby posts in the work unit of PLN UID Jakarta Raya.
Not only standby personnel, PLN also prepared flood alert equipment including 16 rubber boats, 6 units of 4 wheel drives, 58 units of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) with a total capacity of 10,320 kVA, 8 units of Mobile Cable Units (UKB) with a total length of 10,597 meters, 68 units of Mobile Substation Units (UGB) and Mobile Transformation Units (UTB) with a total capacity of 39,120 kVA, 3 units of portable total capacity 975 kVA, 5 units of detection cars, 3 units of assessment cars and 2 units of cranes.

"We also urge customers to immediately report if there are flood-affected areas through the PLN Mobile application or PLN 123 Contact Center," explained Lasiran.
Prioritizing safety, PLN was forced to turn off electricity to customers' homes when customers' houses and PLN substations were flooded. After the water recedes and is declared safe to turn on, PLN will return to flow electricity after the signing of the lighting report.
