Joby Aviation Electric Air Taxis Likely To Operate From JFK Airport To Manhattan By 2025
JAKARTA - Electric air taxis could carry passengers from JFK Airport to downtown Manhattan by 2025 - in a quiet, emissions-free journey, lasting around seven minutes.
Manufacturer Joby Aviation conducted a demonstration flight at the Downtown Manhattan Heliport in New York on Sunday, November 12 becoming the first electric air taxi flight in the city and the first time Joby has flown in an urban environment.
"Travel booking is similar to a shared service app, and planes can charge in about five minutes, while passengers are disembarking and boarding," said CEO JoeBen Bevirt.

The company aims to begin commercial passenger service in 2025 and is currently in the third of five stages of certification with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
While the cost of booking the trip has not been confirmed, the company previously said it would likely be comparable to the cost of a land-based shared vehicle service.
