Apple Launches Latest M3 Chip at Scary Fast Event

JAKARTA - Apple has finished broadcasting their month-end event entitled Scary Fast. With the end of their live broadcast, Apple officially introduced the latest M3 chip.

This morning, Apple announced that the M3 will come in three versions, namely M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max. The three series of M3 have major improvements in terms of GPU and CPU in them.

The regular M3 has an 8-core CPU with four performance cores and four efficiency cores as well as a 10-core GPU. In terms of improvements, this processor is claimed to work 35 percent faster than the M1. These percentages are high, but Apple isn't comparing the M3's improvement over the M2.

On the M3 Pro, this processor has a 12-core CPU. The improvements are seen in six performance cores and six efficiency cores. Apple also added an 18-core GPU to this M3 series.

When comparing with the CPU and GPU of the M1, Apple claims that the M3 Pro CPU works 30 percent faster than the M1 Pro. Meanwhile for the GPU, the M3 Pro works 40 percent faster than the M1 Pro.

Once again, Apple missed out on comparing the M3 Pro with the M2 Pro. The company immediately explained that the M3 Max has a 16-core CPU and a 40-core GPU. The improvement is claimed to be 50 percent faster than the M1 Max GPU and 80 percent faster than the M1 Max CPU.

Each M3 series supports integrated memory up to 24GB, 36GB and 128GB. These three chips will debut in the latest MacBook Pro models and the 24-inch iMac.

Apple focused on improving the performance of their M3 chip to support opening heavy applications and playing games professionally. The chip features ray tracing and mesh shading, a first addition to Apple Silicon.
