Then, what does it mean to have a child?
Inner child is often used to describe relationships that a person has with childhood and childhood memories. Sometimes a person finds that certain behavior or emotions are similar to those experienced as a child, so it often causes pressure when navigating an adult world.
The concept of their own child is often discussed by psychologists and psychiatrists. LaunchingHealthline, psychologist Carl Jung connects the child's innerer with past experiences and memories of innocence, joy, and creativity, as well as hopes for the future.
While other experts describeminner child as an expression not only himself as a child, but also a life experience at all stages of life. Inner child can also be considered a source of strength, as experience can play an important role in a person's development as an adult.
Inner child reflects oneself as a child, both in the negative' and 'positive' aspects. When childhood experiences have a negative impact on a person, inner child may continue to carry wounds until a person overcomes the source.
"Each of us has an inner child, or a way of survival," said Dr. Diana Raab, research psychologist and author.
"Relations with your child's internal can help grow prosperity and provide relief in life," added Dr. Diana.
Citing the official website of Muhammadiyah University Purwekerto, Faculty of Psychology, inner children are generally interpreted as the side of small children in adults. Inner child is synonymous with past trauma which is often understood as a side that must be thrown away and is an excuse to refuse something.
In fact, if managed properly, the inner child could actually become its own booster for development.
In the realm of psychology terminner child is known as an advisory childhood experience, which is an individual childhood experience that will affect development.
Dzikria Afifah Primala Wiaya, S.Psi., M.A, a lecturer in UMP psychology, wants to straighten out the negative stigma regarding theminer child. According to him, the child's innerer can have a positive nature if managed properly. Dzikria also said that the child's inner could be related to parenting in the past.
One of the parenting styles that can provide childnegative partners is the pattern of parental care that is authoritarian. Feelings of fear of expressing personal opinion because they feel that their personal opinion is not important, are not judged, and not appreciated by others can occur because of authoritarian parenting in the past.
While the positiveinner child side is very similar to the human soul at the age of children, such as feeling free, enthusiastic, creative, focused, energetic, and having great curiosity.
"Yes, it can be (inner child related to parenting). Maybe something has not been completed and so on. I want to confirm the nature of the child's internal is neutral, because so far it has been frame-negative to be used as a rejection. So it is neutral, but, it can be a problem when it is not managed as material for self-development," said Dzikria.
"Actually, we all have a subsidiary child, depending on whether you want to be directed on a positive side or an obstacle. If it is developed as an obstacle, there will be obstacles. The question is that it can be developed, can it be eliminated or not? Yes, it all depends that the individual itself will be directed to positive or obstacles," Dzikria added.
Furthermore, Dzikria said the inner child is not a mental disorder, but only a term like the quarter life crisis. This term is used in the mention of individual stages when experiencing problems, storm stages and stress.
"If the internal child cannot be a challenge and self-development, it will be a problem that does not rule out the possibility that the person concerned will experience mental disorders. However, it is not appropriate, if the cause of mental disorders is immediately caused by the internal child. There are complex psychological dynamics that cause a person to experience mental disorders," he concluded.
