Angelina Jolie Becomes An Opera Singer In Pablo Larrain's New Film
JAKARTA - Angelina Jolie has transformed into an opera singer for legend Maria Callas in Pablo Larrain's latest film, Maria. This film is Larrain's latest work after making El Conde this year.
Maria is a biopic that tells of Maria Callas, a music legend full of controversy and is often dubbed the original diva.
"Adapted from a true story, Maria tells a tragic and beautiful story and writes from a greatest opera singer, bringing her last days to life in the 1970s in Paris," the official narrative from the production house said.
Angelina Jolie looks different in her first look. The first photo shows herself wearing glasses while other photos show her luxury as Maria Callas in a fashionable hat and dress.

The costume that Jolie wore was clothes worn by Callas, one of which was from the Masimo Cantini Parrini archive which was consulted with PETA so as not to wear new fur.

The film Maria is an independent production with the approval of SAG-AFTRA. Production will start for eight months in Paris, Greeece, Budapest, and Milan.
The script, which was completed before the Writers Guild strike, was written by Larrain with Steven Knight. Apart from Jolie, the film also stars Pierfrancesco Favino, Alba Rohrwacher, Haluk Bilginer, Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Valeria Golino.
"I'm excited to start production of Maria's film, and I look forward to bringing Maria Callas' life and work to an audience around the world, on a beautiful script written by Steven Knight, the work of all cast and crew, especially the preparation and brilliant work of Angelina," said Pablo Larrain.
Maria is also Angelina Jolie's latest work after the last time playing the film Those Who Wish Me Dead and Eternals in 2021. She is also confirmed to fill the voice of Master Titis for Kungfu Panda 4.
