PTSL Extortion Case, Former Village Head In OKU Sentenced To 6 Years In Prison

BATURAJA - Former Village Head (Kades) Bindu, Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency, South Sumatra Suherman (59) was sentenced to six years in prison for illegal levies (extortion) in the processing of Complete Systematic Land Registration (PTSL) for the local BPN Program.

The former Head of Bindu Village, Semidang Aji District was sentenced by the Panel of Judges at the Corruption Court (Tipidkor) Palembang District Court, Thursday, September 21.

OKU District Attorney Choirun Parapat said the defendant was involved in the case of extortion in PTSL management in his village in 2018 where Suherman was still active as village head.

According to him, the verdict handed down to Suherman was in accordance with the demands of the Public Prosecutor (JPU) at the previous trial.

Suherman was legally proven to have committed a criminal act of extortion against 366 PTSL files with a difference value of Rp. 300,000 per file to enrich oneself.

The defendant was proven to have violated Article 12 Letter (e) regarding the crime of corruption and was sentenced to 6 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 200 million, subsidiary to a fine of 4 months in prison.

Even so, he said, the verdict of the Palembang Tipidkor Court was not yet inkrah because the defendant Suherman through his attorney did not accept the verdict handed down.

"The defendant through his attorney filed an appeal. We are still waiting for the results of his appeal. Usually, about two months before there is a result," he said.

Currently, he continued, the defendant Suherman is still at the Class II B Baturaja State Detention Center (Rutan) for further legal proceedings.
