Lukas Enembe Apologizes For His Frequent Emotions At Trial: Ask For Extorting Responses, Prosecutors Don't Believe My Answer
PAPUA - Former Papua Governor Lukas Enembe apologized for being disrespectful during the trial of alleged bribery and gratification cases.
Lukas was originally furious when the trial of the alleged bribery and gratification case at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court, Monday, September 4, 2023. At that time, he threw a microphone in front of the panel of judges.
According to him, the action was done because of his uncontrolled emotions. Because, he felt very tired when undergoing the trial process.
"Moreover, there are often uncontrolled emotions facing trials that have to drain my energy, mind, even though all parties should realize it, especially public prosecutors that dialogues, questions and answers in trials that make my emotions uncontrollable," said Lukas Enembe through his attorney when reading out his plea or memorandum of defense at the trial at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court, Thursday, September 21.
Moreover, during the trial the prosecutor seemed to have not even trusted his statement. In fact, everything he knew had been conveyed.
"For all the events that may not be pleasing to me, I apologize for asking questions that are disturbing, consecutive, continuous, full of investigations, even not believing my answer in the trial that ignited my emotions and caused my health condition to decline greatly," said Lukas.
In the previous trial, the prosecutor had mentioned that the defendant's actions, Lukas Enembe, threw a microphone and threw insults during the trial, which was considered an act of harassment. In fact, it became one of the considerations to increase the sentence.
"In the trial, the defendant Lukas Enembe had committed acts including making dirty words accompanied by insults and throwing a microphone in front of the judge, the act of the defendant Lukas Enembe was a disgraceful and inappropriate act at the Court (Misbeaving in Court) with the intention and purpose of weakening the authority of the judiciary," said the prosecutor.
The prosecutor also assessed that Lukas Enembe's behavior could have fatal consequences. For example, it is one of the reasons to increase Lukas' demands.
"Therefore, this can be categorized as a contempt of court and can be used as an excuse to increase the sentence for the Defendant Lukas Enembe," said the prosecutor.

Lukas Enembe is found guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption and gratification. Thus, being sentenced to imprisonment for 10 years and 6 months.
Not only criminal, but the prosecutor also demanded Lukas Enembe to pay a fine. The amount reached Rp1 billion.
In this case, Lukas Enembe was charged with violating Article 12 letter a or Article 11 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption Crimes Jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code Jo. Article 65 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
Then, Article 12B of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.
