PDIP Considers Ridwan Kamil To Be Ganjar's Vice Presidential Candidate

The PDI-P (PDIP) is considering Ridwan Kamil as a candidate for vice president (cawapres) to accompany Ganjar Pranowo in the 2024 presidential election.

PDIP DPP chairman Ahmad Basarah said one of his considerations was because Ridwan Kamil was one of the regional heads who succeeded in leading West Java.

"So as a candidate that is included in these considerations," said Ahmad Basarah in Jakarta, Tuesday, September 5.

Nevertheless, Basarah emphasized that all potential vice presidential figures have the same opportunity to be considered by PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri. Moreover, he said, the current political dynamics are still very dynamic. "Once again, all existing presidential reading positions, both those that have appeared on the public surface and those that do not have the same opportunity together. Because once again the situation is still very fluid and dynamic," said Basarah.

In addition to regional heads who are considered as vice presidential candidates for Ganjar, Basarah said, figures from various elements such as Muhammadiyah figures, professionals to other political party figures also have the opportunity to become Ganjar's companions.

"All figures, both regional head figures, political parties, professional figures, retired TNI figures and figures from religious organizations such as NU and Muhammadiyah, all have the same potential to consider being the vice president, Mas Ganjar," explained the deputy chairman of the MPR.

Even so, according to Basarah, both the PDIP chairman and the other political party chairmen are still waiting for future political developments to determine the presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs.

"If you assess the dynamics of national politics that has developed to date, both Mrs. Mega and the other political parties are still waiting for the evolving political dynamics. Especially the political dynamics among the existing political parties and presidential candidates," said Basarah. Previously, the former Governor of West Java who is also a politician from the Golkar Party, Ridwan Kamil, admitted that he had met with the General Chairperson of the PDIP, Megawati Soekarnoputri, some time ago. During the meeting, Ridwan Kamil admitted to discussing the construction of the Bung Karno Monument in Yogyakarta and Bandung.

"One of the things with Mrs. Mega is that we are building the Bung Karno monument, where I participated in supervising reporting that 70 percent of the monument in Jogja has been in Bandung," said Ridwan Kamil at the Ministry of Home Affairs Office, Jakarta, Tuesday, September 5.

However, the man who is familiarly called Kang Emil said that communication with Megawati was not only about politics. The communication, he said, was only related to reports on the construction of the Soekarno Presidential Monument.

"So communication is yes, but not only about politics. Report the construction of the Soekarno monument," he said.
