Defense Minister Prabowo Inaugurates 11 Clean Water Points In Southwest Maluku

AMBON - Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto inaugurated clean water at 11 locations in Southwest Maluku Regency (MBD), Maluku.

"This is the government's obligation to help its people who are in trouble, especially the difficulty of water needs. If we can help it has become an obligation, we must help, we must fight for the people who are difficult. We must be one, harmonious, united for the progress of the country and the nation. The happiness of a leader if the people can smile, "said Prabowo as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, September 4.

The inauguration of clean water was carried out when Prabowo visited MBD Regency, Maluku. This activity is centered in UpuNYor Hamlet, Werwaru Village, Moa District, MBD Regency.

According to Prabowo, this clean water assistance is from the suggestion of people who have difficulty water during the dry season, at the end of 2022 during President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) visit to MBD and followed up.

The community has now obtained 11 locations for the provision of clean water facilities, including seven villages and four hamlets.

"Currently the problem of water is very important, so people also need to be aware of the issue of drought in their respective regions, especially with the dry weather, people must make good use of water," he said.

Prabowo hopes that the drill wells and pipeline networks built with the help of the Ministry of Defense can help residents in Southwest Maluku to meet clean water needs during the dry season.

"I ask MBD residents to take good care of and take advantage of this assistance. Because the water used is not only for humans, but is used for livestock and agriculture in this area," he said.

The inauguration of clean water is the commitment of the Minister of Defense in collaboration with the Defense University to facilitate clean and quality water for MBD residents.

All the water that was drilled had passed the Defense University Laboratory test to ensure it was safe and suitable for residents to consume.

MBD Regent Benyamin Thomas Noach thanked Defense Minister Prabowo for helping with the facilities for providing clean water which includes bore wells and pipeline networks.

With the need for clean water being met, he said, livestock does not die during the dry season and can help people's income.

We in MBD have 48 islands, 17 islands that have inhabitants. There are only 4 islands, namely Damer, Babar, Romang, and Wetar, where rivers and forests are still heavy, so they can plant cloves and nutmegs, while others are dry. We hope this is not the first and the last time we come to visit us at the southern tip of the archipelago," he said.
