Jokowi Will Meet PM Trudeau At The ASEAN Summit Sela
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will hold a bilateral meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on September 6, 2023, on the sidelines of the 43rd Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
"There will be a meeting with Mr (President) on the 6th afternoon here (Presidential Palace)," said Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi after attending the Opening of the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (ABIS) at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Friday, September 1.
PM Trudeau is one of the heads of state President Jokowi will meet bilaterally, in addition to dozens of leaders of other countries including Japan, South Korea, China, and Australia.
President Jokowi is scheduled to meet with the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the leadership of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
So far, said Retno, Indonesia has recorded 13 requests for bilateral meetings with President Jokowi on the sidelines of the 43rd ASEAN Summit which will be held at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Senayan, 5-7 September 2023.
The summit will be attended by 22 countries consisting of 11 ASEAN countries, including Timor Leste and nine speech partner countries.
Among the leaders attending the ASEAN Summit, Foreign Minister Retno confirmed the participation of US Vice President Kamala Harris, Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol.

Meanwhile, Russia as one of ASEAN's entrepreneurial partners will send Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the summit.
The ASEAN 43rd Summit was held under the Chairmanship of Indonesia with the theme "ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth". Through this theme, Indonesia wants to make ASEAN more relevant in order to be able to face various challenges in the future, encourage regional stability and peace.
Indonesia will also continue to strengthen concrete cooperation so that Southeast Asia remains the center of world economic growth.
