Sri Mulyani Conveys Government Responses To Faction Views In The 2024 State Budget Bill

Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani conveyed the government's answer to the general view of the DPR RI faction on the Bill on the 2024 State Budget and its Financial Note in today's plenary meeting.

According to the Minister of Finance, the government agreed with all factions to strengthen the effectiveness of fiscal policy next year.

"We agree with all DPR factions regarding the importance of strengthening the APBN policy as an instrument in protecting the economy and people in facing global uncertainty," he said at the Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta on Tuesday, August 29.

The Minister of Finance explained that the DPR-RI factions all underlined the increasingly complex and tough challenges of managing the economy going forward, especially external threats with weakening global economic performance and increasing geopolitical fragmentation and its various potential implications.

"We should be grateful that with hard work and strong synergy, Indonesia is able to overcome the pandemic and continue to maintain the momentum of economic recovery. This is a strong foundation for future economic development in realizing all Visions of Advanced Indonesia 2045," he said.

The state treasurer explained that in the shocks and complexity of post-pandemic global conditions, Indonesia is a few countries that are able to maintain a good economic recovery.

"For this reason, the State Budget will continue to be used as an important instrument in maintaining national economic stability and completing various development priorities," he said.

On this occasion, the Minister of Finance also explained the government's answers regarding the assumptions of economic growth, inflationary pressure, optimizing state revenues, and improving spending quality.

In addition, the policy of providing incentives to battery-based electric motorized vehicles (KBLBB) was also conveyed, the government's efforts to ensure subsidies are right on target, increase the financial synergy of the regions, and so on.

The Minister of Finance welcomed the DPR's support to discuss further the Bill on the State Budget for Fiscal Year 2024 and the Financial Note in accordance with the provisions of the applicable laws and schedules that have been agreed upon.

"We express our gratitude to all the DPR factions who have expressed their views on the 2024 State Budget Bill and the Financial Note that was submitted by the President on August 16," he said.

"We hope that our joint efforts can realize a healthier, fairer and maximum beneficial State Budget architecture for the welfare of all levels of society (inclusive), including the poor and vulnerable groups," closed the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani.
