Since August 16 Last Year, The DPR Has Received 4,603 Complaints From Residents Via Letters

JAKARTA - The DPR is 78 years old. The chairman of the DPR RI, Puan Maharani, revealed various achievements of the DPR, including members of the Council, who received many complaints from the people.

This was conveyed by Puan in the Special Plenary Meeting of 2022-2023 concerning the Submission of Performance Reports in the context of the 78th Anniversary of the DPR RI. In her speech, Puan revealed that the legislative council had obtained thousands of aspirations from the community that had been submitted to the Council's Apparatus (AKD).

The DPR's 78th Anniversary Plenary Meeting was held at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday 29 August. The commemoration of the DPR's Anniversary this time was also attended by the 15th Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Akbar Tanjung, 16th Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives Agung Laksono and 17th Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives Marzuki Alie.

In addition to the leadership of the DPR from time to time, Deputy Chairperson of the MPR Ahmad Basarah, Deputy Chairman of the DPD RI Nono Sampono, Chairman of the BPK RI Isma Yatun, Chairman of the Constitutional Court Anwar Usman, Supreme Court Justice Syamsul Maarif representing the Supreme Court (MA), and Chairman of the Judicial Commission (KY) Amzulian Rifai were also present.

Puan explained that from August 16, 2022, to July 25, 2023, the DPR had received 4,603 complaints from the people through physical letters and 255 letters through the website. That way, Puan said that the DPR always tries to carry out the people's mandate in absorbing all aspirations.

"There are 5 areas of problems that dominate the aspirations and complaints of the public, namely Law, Human Rights and Security, Land and Reform of Agrarian, Trade, Industry, Investment, and SOEs, the Financial and Forestry Economy, Environment, and Energy and Mineral Resources," said Puan.

"In the process of forming the Law, the DPR RI always provides opportunities for the public to participate through various activities, such as hearings, public hearings, working visits, seminars, and discussions," continued Puan.

Regarding the case of testing the Law at the Constitutional Court (MK), there were 130 cases of testing the Law during the 2022-2023 Session Year. Of these, said Puan, only 13 cases had their decisions granted by the Constitutional Court.

"This shows that the implementation of the legislative function of the DPR RI, is in line with the state constitution," he said.

Meanwhile, in budget performance, Puan reported that the DPR together with the government had agreed on the State Budget (APBN) for Fiscal Year 2023 and the Discussion on the Preamble to the Macro Economic Framework and the Basic Principles of Fiscal Policy in 2024.

Puan said that the state budget as a state financial instrument has worked hard in moving the national economy, providing social protection, and carrying out national economic recovery.

"Indonesia's economy in 2022 and 2023, shows economic resilience and recovery that continues to strengthen amid national socio-economic recovery and global challenges. This is the result of working with the DPR RI and the Government in drafting the Law on the State Budget and its Fiscal Policy," said Puan.

Puan also revealed the supervisory function that has been carried out by the DPR where the legislative body has supervised various government policies and programs in implementing laws related to the fulfillment of political, social, economic, cultural, spiritual and public order rights in the community.

"The DPR RI's supervisory function is carried out through Working Meetings, Hearing Meetings, Public Hearing Meetings, Working Committees, Special Supervision Committees, Monitoring Teams, as well as working visits to regions and abroad. Of the 50 Working Committees that have been formed, 21 of them have been declared complete," said Puan.

Furthermore, the DPR has also carried out the role of parliamentary diplomacy by attending and participating in meetings of forums between parliaments and non-parliaments. Puan said that parliamentary diplomacy was carried out at both international and regional levels, as well as through bilateral diplomacy activities.

"A series of diplomatic activities carried out by the Indonesian House of Representatives are to strengthen Indonesian foreign politics and place a stronger position in the Republic of Indonesia in fighting for national interests at the regional and global levels," said Bung Karno's grandson.
