These Four Students Of SMK Negeri II Pangkep Successfully Turned The Jeep ICE Car Into An Electric Car, Exhibited At The Indonesian Independence Day
Four students of SMK Negeri II Pangkep displayed their electric Jeep car at the 78th Indonesian Independence Commemoration at the South Sulawesi Governor's Office in Makassar, Thursday.
The four students are Arjuna Kaharuddin, Muhammad Ardiansyah Multasang, and Ahmad Rizki, who are supported by several teachers including Andi Magupeang.
The four-person car attracted attention when South Sulawesi Governor Andi Sudirman Sulaiman and South Sulawesi Forkopimda Head paraded driving the car.
The electric car project called Jeep Andalan (Jipand) South Sulawesi is the result of the collaboration of vocational students for nine months. They work with electric car manufacturers to overcome various obstacles.
"Normally, the construction of this car was only four months, but yesterday there was a problem so nine months we worked on this car which was used today," said Andi Magupeang as a companion teacher for the manufacture of electric cars.
The nine months include a feasibility test. The car is powered by a 6000 Watt electric engine that can be controlled via Android mobile phones, with the option of eco, normal, and sport speeds.
This Jeep is capable of reaching speeds of 120 km/hour with a range of 150-170 km. In addition, this car is much more efficient than a fuel car, costing only Rp. 32,000 to cover a distance of 120 km.
Andi Magupeang said that they are currently only building one unit, but plan to make several more units according to demand. The Governor of South Sulawesi hopes that this student-made car can exist in every Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD).
This project is part of the efforts of the Governor of South Sulawesi Andi Sudirman Sulaman to carry out President Joko Widodo's instructions regarding the use of electric cars by state officials, in accordance with Presidential Regulation Number 55 of 2019.
The modification process for this Jeep car costs around Rp. 400 million. If marketed, it is estimated that the price will reach Rp. 150 million and above, according to battery specifications.
The car also supports fast charging, it only takes four hours for full charging.
