Bakamla Agrees On Border Sea Security With Singapore

BATAM - The Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding securing the border sea with the Singapore Police Coast Guard (SPCG).

Deputy Expert Public Relations Pranata Captain Bakamla Yuhanes Antara said that the signing was carried out by the Head of Bakamla, Admiral TNI Aan Kurnia, with the SPCG SAC Commander, Cheang, Keong.

"On that occasion, the two agency leaders agreed to support each other's marine security activities. Not only in the waters of each country, but also in security measures in border waters. This commitment was confirmed in the signing of the MoU between Bakamla RI and SPCG in the realm of Marine Security and Safety," said Yuhanes as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, August 4.

He explained that the signing of the memorandum of understanding was in response to the increasing trend of violations at sea which were increasingly diverse and the majority of violations in Indonesia and Singapore had similarities.

"Therefore, close and sustainable collaboration really needs to be established between Bakamla RI and SPCG," he said.

The two marine security agencies agreed to continue to cooperate in the realm of increasing personnel capacity and exchanging information.

"It is possible that the ship's grant activities will be carried out in the near future," he said.
