Fulfilling the Examination of Religion Blasphemy, Panji Gumilang Gives a Thumbs Up
JAKARTA - The leader of the Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School, Panji Gumilang, fulfilled the summons for an examination of the alleged blasphemy case at the National Police's Criminal Investigation Unit today.
Panji Gumilang, who was seen wearing a striped gray shirt, arrived at around 13.21 WIB. He was accompanied by several lawyers and escorted by the police.
Not a single word he said. Although, the media crew continued to bombard questions.
The response shown by the leadership of the Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School was only a thumbs up. I don't know the meaning behind the gesture.
Bareskrim Polri rescheduled the examination of the leader of the Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School, Panji Gumilang, at the beginning of next week.
Panji Gumilang was previously scheduled to provide information on Thursday, July 27. However, he did not attend due to illness.
"We have issued a second summons, namely we have summoned him as a witness and it is hoped that tomorrow, August 1, the person concerned will be able to attend to fulfill our summons," said Director of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Djuhandani Rahardjo Puro.
During the interrogation later, Panji Gumilang will be asked to explain everything related to the alleged blasphemy against him.
Apart from that, the examination of Panji Gumilang as the reported party is also to complement the formal obligations of the National Police in handling a criminal case.
"We summoned as a witness to explain what the complainant did or was accused of," said Djuhandani.
Panji Gumilang was supposed to be questioned on July 3. The examination was limited to a clarification regarding the reporting made by several parties.

During the interrogation, Panji Gumilang was said to have acknowledged all of his statements circulating in video form.
In one of the videos circulating on social media, Panji Gumilang said that the Koran was composed by the Prophet Muhammad.
