Welcoming FIBA World Cup 2023, Bali Becomes The First City To Go To Trophy Tour
JAKARTA - The FIBA World Cup 2023 will be held on August 25 - September 10. Before the event starts, the organizing committee will hold a Trophy Tour as the opening agenda.
Bali was chosen as the first city to be visited on the Trophy Tour agenda which is scheduled to take place from July 31 - August 1.
Trophy tour will showcase the 2023 FIBA World Cup gold Cup in several tourist destinations, such as Tanah Lot, Bali Museum, Struggle Monument, Beachwalk Shopping Center, Sanur Beach, Pandawa Beach, and Germany Beach.
The election of Bali as the first city for the Trophy Tour is not without reason. The Island of the Gods is believed to be one of the places that is able to produce legendary basketball athletes in Indonesia.
"Many Balinese children are Indonesian basketball legends. That is the reason why FIBA put its trophy in Bali," said PP Perbasi General Chair Danny Kosasih in a statement on the official website quoted Tuesday, August 1.
"Hopefully in the future there will also be national team players from Bali again and achieve the highest achievement," he continued.
Bali has indeed succeeded in producing several big names of Indonesian basketball players, such as I Made Sudiadnyana, Cokorda Raka Wibawa, and Ponsianus Nyoman Indrawan.
Not only stopping in Bali, but later the Naismith Trophy for the 2023 FIBA World Cup will also surround other cities in Indonesia. After Bali as the opening city, the trophy will also visit the City of Heroes, Surabaya and finally in Jakarta, before heading to Greece, Spain, Australia, and finally will be placed in the Philippines.
