Police Secure 175 Logging Illegal Results Racing In Kampar Gulomo River
PekanBARU - Riau Police and a joint team secured 175 illegal round logs which were suspected to have been the result of illegal logging in the river around the tourist attraction of the Gulamo River, Kampar Regency.
Direktur Ditreskrimsus Polda Riau Kombes Teguh Widodo menjelaskan ratusan kayu tersebut ditemukan tim gabungan usai viral di sosial media. Kini pemilik kayu tersebut masih diburu polisi.
"The owner is still under investigation," Teguh was quoted as saying by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 14.
At first, the existence of the wood went viral after a visitor recorded wood washed away and scattered over the flow of the Gulamo River. The tourist manager of Gulamo also admitted that he did not know the owner of the wood and where the wood came from.
When found, hundreds of these wood have been unified into 25 rafts consisting of 7-8 wooden palms each.
In addition, based on these findings, the police have coordinated with the Forest Management Unit (KPH) of the Riau Environment and Forestry Service Team.
"The joint team and the Bukit Suligi Forest Management Unit are trying to evacuate the wood which is suspected to have been 'illegal logging' using two engine boats," added Teguh.

Currently, hundreds of the no-man's timber has been taken to the Kampar Resort Police Headquarters to investigate who was behind this case.
Meanwhile, the Riau Province Natural Resources Conservation Center said it had checked with the Head of the Resort regarding the findings at the Gulamo tourist attraction.
