Singapore Open 2023 Quarter-Finals: Only 2 Indonesian Representatives Left

JAKARTA Indonesia only has two representatives in the quarter-finals of Singapore 2023. Of the 10 representatives who competed in the second half, eight of them had to lift their suitcases early.

One of the two representatives who confirmed that they had qualified for the second half was Anthony Sinisuka Ginting's singles.

The second seed qualified after stopping Canadian representatives Brian Yang 21-19 and 21-11 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, Thursday, June 8, 2023 afternoon.

In the quarter-finals tomorrow, Anthony will meet Le Shi Feng. The Chinese men's singles got tickets after stopping compatriot Weng Hong Yang.

In the men's doubles number, the only remaining representative of the five representatives who managed to enter the round of 16 was the pair Leo Rolly Carnando / Daniel Marthin.

Leo/Daniel secured tickets to the quarter-finals of the BWF Super 750 event after defeating the Korean pair, Kim Gi Jung/Kim Sa Rang in a two-game straight match.

Furthermore, the 2019 junior world champion will meet the third-seeded Malaysian representative, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik. Leo/Daniel have a 2-5 win-loss record from the previous seven clashes.

In the men's doubles number, the four Indonesian representatives who had to go home early were Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Rambitan, Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo, and Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan.

Meanwhile, four other representatives who were also eliminated were the women's singles Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, women's doubles duo Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti and Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi and mixed doubles Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari.
