Day 7 Of Search For Missing Fishermen In Teluk Lande Sultra, SAR Team Distributes Team 2 Team

KENDARI - Basarnas Kendari continued the search for a fisherman named La Wane (53) who was reported missing while at sea in Teluk Lande, Sampolawa District, South Buton Regency, Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra).

Acting Head of Basarnas Kendari Hidayat said the search operation for victims involving the joint SAR team had entered its seventh day.

"For the development of SAR operations for fishermen who have not returned from fishing around the waters of Teluk Lande, South Buton, today, the search has entered the seventh day of the search by the joint SAR team which began this morning," he said in a written statement, Thursday, June 8, which was confiscated by Antara.

He said the search operation for a middle-aged man who is a resident of Gayabaru Village, Lapandewa District, South Buton Regency, was carried out by dividing into two teams with a search area of 15 nautical miles from the last location where the victim was reported missing.

Basarnas said team 1 conducted a sweep in the northern Gulf of Lande from the last location of the victim reported missing eight nautical miles using a rubberboat, while team 2 carried out a search in the southern part of the last location where the victim was reported missing covering an area of seven nautical miles using fishing boats and rubberboats.

Hidayat said, in the search operation for victims, Basarnas Pos SAR Baubau assisted by South Buton BPBD personnel, Lapandewa Police, Gayabaru Village Babinsa, local residents and victims' families using the main tool of the search, namely rubberboat one unit, longboat serving six units, aqueye a set and other safety support equipment.

"For weather conditions during the search operation on the seventh day, it was cloudy, wind speeds were 2-13 knots, the wind direction was blowing from southeast to north and the wave height reached 0.25-0.5 meters," he said.

Previously, the victim reportedly went to sea to fish by fishing using a canoe around Teluk Lande waters with a distance of approximately one nautical mile from his village on Friday, June 2, at around 02.00 WITA.

The victim's habit returned from fishing at 18.00 WITA, but until that time it passed, La Wane never returned. At that time, the family had conducted a search, while because of the results of the zero incidents it was reported to Basarnas.

"After receiving the report, Basarnas then carried out a search operation. However, until now the victim has not been found," he said.
