This Is How To Reduce The Impact Of Greenhouse Gas Emissions
JAKARTA - To support the government's efforts to reduce the impact of greenhouse gas emissions, Meratus, as one of the companies Logistics and Maritime Integrators, launched the Meratus Earth Squad.
This program is in line with Meratus' commitment to actively fulfill the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
Previously, Meratus had made a comprehensive approach to the fuel monitoring system, formed an analytic bunker team, analyzed the best speed in reducing fuel, and also invested in the installation of a beach connection to reduce the impact of carbon emissions.
"With the Meratus Earth Squad, customers can directly calculate the carbon emissions produced in each cargo shipment," Meratus CEO Farid Belbouab told reporters in Jakarta, Thursday, May 25.
Farid said Meratus Earth Squad is one proof of his party's commitment to continue to play a role in maintaining natural balance.
"Not only calculating the carbon footprint, this program also invites customers to be able to mitigate their carbon footprint in various choices, such as mangrove planting and forest reforestation," he said.
Furthermore, said Farid, every contribution to tree planting through the Meratus Earth Squad will be monitored for three years, so that customers can find out the growth and development of the trees that have been planted and how much carbon has been successfully mitigated.

"This program opens our horizons all about the importance of natural balance. Hopefully, the Meratus Earth Squad can be a trigger for other parties to collaborate to restore the green earth of the archipelago," he concluded.
As for the 2021 IPCC report, global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions have increased by 43 percent in the last two decades.
This indicates the accelerating climate crisis and the worsening extreme weather such as rising sea levels, drought, floods, and other natural disaster risks.
