Megawati Reminds The Welfare Of TNI Soldiers In Front Of The Commander: You Can Do This Because Of Your Subordinates

JAKARTA - The 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri reminded the generals to care about the welfare of his subordinates. This request was conveyed in front of the TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono during a speech at the launch of the book at the National Defense Institute (Lemhanas).

Initially, Megawati mentioned that she had been the supreme commander when she served as president. Mega was then often surprised when there were TNI soldiers who were prepared or saluted, but she called this natural as well as a reminder.

"I said earlier that I like to be surprised if (the soldier, ed) said'ready, move' and then said'respect, move'. I think so that you can remember, eling, you can do this because someone is talking, subordinates. Please really take care of my subordinates," Megawati said in her speech at the Lemhanas Building, Central Jakarta, Saturday, May 20.

The general chairman of the PDI-P (PDIP) alluded to soldiers as subordinates who are always at the forefront. So, it is appropriate when they get full attention.

"If you have become a general, your subordinates will be taken care of. Don't be lattice. I like to say, where is there a general who dies in front of the war, where there are subordinates," he said.

Megawati said that she often asked for data on soldiers who had to receive treatment or died during the Aceh DOM mission in 2003. He then thought about many TNI members being shot until he finally found a lot of incomplete equipment received.

"Why is this being shot all the time? How can I not, the clothes and that no one dared to talk to me as the supreme commander, if I entered the equipment battalion only half. Hayo, right or not. God willing," he said.

"What about the death? Not in front but behind the sniper. How about Hayo, then," continued Megawati.

The book launch activity at Lemhanas was Megawati accompanied by PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto. Apart from the TNI Commander, MPR Chairman Bambang Soesatyo was also present.

Then he appeared to be present as an invitation from the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna H. Laoly, Minister of PAN RB Abdullah Azwar Anas, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of Cooperatives Teten Masduki, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs John Wempi Wetipo.
