Acting Cooperatively, Deontay Wilder Freed After Being Caught Carrying Cannabis And Pistols
JAKARTA - Heavyweight boxer Deontay Wilder was reportedly arrested by security forces after being caught carrying a gun and drugs in his luxury Rolls Royce car.
The arrest of the former heavyweight world champion was made by security forces in Los Angeles in a routine ticket conducted in the region.
Wilder was stopped by police in Hollywood while driving his Rolls-Royce. TMZ claims the incident occurred at 01.15 in the morning on Tuesday morning local time.
However, Wilder has now issued a statement containing the reasons why he brought a gun through social media. He said the items participated together solely to protect themselves.
"I'd rather be safe than sorry. The end of everything," wrote Wilder as quoted by The Sun.
Apart from having problems with carrying the two prohibited items, Wilder is also suspected of illegally coloring his car window in another color and using an inappropriate number plate.
Police told TMZ they searched the vehicle after smelled the burning marijuana. During the search, they found a 9mm pistol.
Consequently, this American fighter was detained on charges of possessing a hidden weapon. However, Wilder is said to have been 'cooperative and good' during his arrest.
Wilder was later released from prison at 6.34 am after more than five hours of detention.
