National Police Chief: Traffic Flow Increases 300 Percent, 30 Thousand Vehicles Cross Kalikangkung Toll Gate Per Hour
JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said the number of vehicles entering the Kalikangkung Toll Gate increased by 300 percent per day. Thus, the peak of the homecoming flow is predicted to occur tonight and tomorrow."We just carried out a check related to the ketupat operation held by the Central Java Regional Police, especially at the Kalikangkung Toll Gate, it was reported that to date there has been an increase of almost 300 percent," Sigit told reporters, Tuesday, April 18.The percentage increase is calculated using the method of vehicles passing per hour. Currently, 30 thousand vehicles pass through the Kalikangkung Toll Gate every hour."From the normal limit of 10 thousand per hour, now it has entered at 30 thousand, so it is close to 300 percent and it is estimated that it will peak around tonight and tomorrow," he said. Therefore, the traffic scheme has been implemented since this afternoon. The goal is to prevent congestion on toll roads."The concept of one way has been applied centrally, commanded by Kakorlantas, starting from the Cikampek area to Kalikangkung," said Sigit.Previously, it was reported that Korlantas Polri had started implementing a one way scheme at the Cipali KM 72 toll road gate KM 414. It has been implemented since this afternoon."The implementation of the one way action plan will be opened at 14.30 WIB," said Head of the Korlantas Polri Police, Kombes Eddy Djunaedi.
Meanwhile, Eddy said that his party had not implemented a contraflow scheme from the West Karawang or Cikampek KM 42 to the KM72 Cipali Toll Road. The reason is that the traffic flow is still sloping."It has not been implemented contraflow, the VCR (volume capacity ratio) is still low and the current is still under control. We will wait for further notification," said Eddy.
