Viral Police Hit Motorcyclist During Illegal Racing Raid In West Sulawesi, Police Chief: Trying To Escape Crashing Personnel
SULBAR - Viral video of police beating motorcyclists during a raid on illegal racing in Central Mamuju, West Sulawesi (Sulbar). What is the chronology of the Central Mamuju Police version?
"With the incident of beating members who went viral on social media, we will conduct an examination by Propam and if there is a violation, they will be dealt with according to the applicable regulations," said Central Mamuju Police Chief AKBP Amri Yudhy when contacted, Thursday, March 30, confiscated by Antara.
Yudhy said that the beating of the driver began when the Patrol Team for the Ramadan Traffic Unit and the Samapta Unit of the Central Mamuju Police received reports from the public regarding the planned illegal racing action in the Barakkang area.
When they arrived at the location, he said, the patrol team met with Budong-Budong Police personnel who had previously been on standby to secure the situation, so that there was no illegal racing action.
Then when he was returning to the Central Mamuju Police, said Yudhy, the Ramadan Patrol team found a group of teenagers on Jalan Trans Sulawesi gathering, so the patrol team gave an appeal not to use Brong exhaust and avoid illegal racing on the highway.

However, when giving the appeal, a motorcyclist who used a Brong exhaust passed by and when he was about to be stopped, the driver tried to escape and had hit a police officer who was at the location.
"So, the motorcyclist tried to run away, and even hit the personnel who stopped him, so with the reflex movement the members pulled and tried to paralyze the motorcyclist," he said.
Then, during a search, said Yudhy, a illegal drug type of boje was found in the pocket of the motorcyclist's pants and also the person concerned was drunk, so the driver was immediately secured to undergo an examination process by the Central Mamuju Police Narcotics Unit.
"After undergoing the inspection process, the motorcyclist realized that his actions were wrong because he was drunk and brought illegal drugs of the type of boje," he said.
