Electrification Ratio Reaches 99 Percent, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Focuses on Remote Areas

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) reports that Indonesia's electrification ratio has reached 99 percent.

However, the Director General of Electricity, Jisman Hutajulu, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, said that this is actually a challenge because the remaining areas are remote areas.

"For the electricity sector, we hope that services to the community will continue to improve, electrification of all regions can increase. Electrification, which has reached 99 percent, is a challenge because it still remains in remote areas," said Jisman, quoted on Wednesday, October 4.

Jisman added that the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is also trying to increase equal access to electricity to all corners of the country.

This can be seen from the achievement of the Electrification Ratio in 2022 of 99.63 percent, an increase of 1.8 percent from 2021, namely 99.45 percent.

"The government continues to monitor progress in achieving the electrification ratio in Indonesia. This is because the electrification ratio concerns justice or equality in accessing electricity," added Jisman.

The government, he said, will continue to strive to increase the national electrification ratio, especially in the Eastern region of Indonesia, especially in remote areas.

In this way, it is hoped that all of Indonesia will be able to enjoy electricity 24 hours a day and of course be able to boost local economic growth.

Jisman believes that if electricity consumption in Indonesia can continue to be increased, his ministry will also encourage a number of programs.

"We will encourage the utilization and use of electric vehicles, we will encourage the availability of SPKLU according to public needs," concluded Jisman.
