Injuries During The 2023 AFF Cup Match, 2 National Team Players Are Guaranteed By BPJS Ketenagakerjaan

JAKARTA - Two female U-19 national team players who competed in the 2023 U-19 Women's AFF Cup suffered injuries due to clashes with opposing players. Both are Marsela Yuliana Awi and Sheva Badminton Furyzcha who have to receive treatment and also medical treatment at the hospital.

BPJS Ketenagakerjaan as a provider of protection services for workers, including informal workers such as national team athletes, ensures that both receive maximum care.

President Director of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Anggoro Eko Cahyo in his statement said that all national team players competing in the AFF Cup which was held at the Jakabaring Stadium, Palembang will be protected for their safety, from practice, especially during matches.

"It's true, both of them have received treatment, and because they are our participants, we will make sure they get their full rights. The protection we provide is not limited to treatment in hospitals, but we also ensure that these players can return to the field with the best post-injury conditions," explained Anggoro, in his statement, Wednesday, July 19.

He added that BPJS Ketenagakerjaan is currently focusing on providing protection to informal workers or non-wage workers, one of which is the athlete profession.

"Like our campaign, we want our participants, all workers, to be able to do their job as hard and optimally as possible, regardless of profession, for any risk, leave it to us, there is no need to worry and worry," Anggoro added.

It is known that in April 2023, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and PSSI conducted a synergy of cooperation and launching of the Employment Social Security Protection Movement to the Indonesian Football Ecosystem agreed in the Memorandum of Understanding signed by both parties, namely Anggoro Eko Cahyo and PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir.

This memorandum of understanding contains protection for sports players, associations, leagues, clubs, officials, players, and football supporters. The protection provided includes the Work Accident Insurance (JKK) and Death Security (JKM) programs.

In more detail regarding the incident, the female U-19 National Team Doctor in the 2023 AFF match, dr. Risky Dwi Rahayu, Sp.KO said the two athletes suffered injuries due to a hard impact on the chest and right cheek. They had a head-to-head duel with the opposing player. As a result of the hard impact, both of them needed further treatment at the hospital.

"We refer the two athletes to Siti Fatimah Az-Zahra Hospital. During this process all medical expenses are borne by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, because U-19 national team athletes have been registered in the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan protection program," said Risky, Friday, July 14.

By regulation, employment protection for formal and informal workers such as athletes has been regulated in Law Number 11 of 2022 concerning Sport Article 100. Its contents are listed, every sports person and sports actor is given social security protection according to the National Social Security System.

Closing his statement, Anggoro reiterated that BPJS Ketenagakerjaan is fully committed to supporting Indonesian athletes competing in the national and international arenas.

"These athletes are our representatives in the eyes of the international community, we will fully support them, we hope that with the social security we provide, all athletes can focus on training and competing, in the hope that they will produce optimal achievements and make Indonesia proud," concluded Anggoro.
