Will Be Flooded With Productive Population, Jokowi: Government Can't Work Alone

BALI - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that Indonesia will get a demographic bonus that shows the composition of the productive population's age to be very large, in 2030.

"The demographic bonus only occurs once in the civilization of a country," said Jokowi through his remarks which was broadcast online at the Inclusive Lifelong Learning Conference (ILCC) event in the Nusa Dua area, Bali, Wednesday, July 5.

Jokowi assessed that this could be an opportunity for a country, but this could also be a disaster if it is not managed properly.

"In managing demographic bonuses, of course the government cannot work alone, it requires cooperation, partnerships, and collaboration with various parties as well as the community," he said.

In order to accelerate and even jump in improving the quality of human resources (HR), said Jokowi, the government must also be able to convince young people, especially Gen-Z and Gen-Alfa, to become a lifelong learner (a lifelong learner).

"In order to improve the quality of life and become a driving force for the progress of society, nation and state," said Jokowi.

Therefore, Jokowi said, the Pre-Employment Training program has become one of the solutions that Indonesia has initiated to answer these challenges.

"The solution to accelerating the improvement of expertise is learning throughout life because it can be followed by anyone without any boundaries," he said.

"We agree that learning knows no time, knows no age limit, and can be done anywhere and anytime. For this reason, life long learning is important because it can change a person's life for the better," he added.
