Bulog Ensures Premium Quality Social Assistance Rice, Free From Lice

JAKARTA - Main Director of Perum Bulog Budi Waseso said, his party ensures that the rice for social assistance (bansos) is premium quality rice, freshly supplied and free of fleas.

"The quality of the rice is good, there are no vermin, this is new rice, it has just been (supplied/harvested)," said Budi Waseso who is often called Buwas at the launch of rice social assistance at Perum Bulog Kanwil DKI Jakarta and Banten North Jakarta area, quoted from Antara, Thursday, April 6th.

Buwas also revealed that by distributing premium rice, this could prevent or anticipate the social assistance rice that had been distributed from not returning to Bulog, because the rice would definitely be priced at a higher price.

"I also anticipate that this rice will not return to Bulog. If I give medium rice, you can come back. But if it's premium, it won't come back to us because it's definitely expensive,” he explained.

Furthermore, he said that in fact the provision of rice social assistance had started in March but not yet simultaneously throughout Indonesia. This is because there are several areas where the packaging of 10 kilograms of social assistance rice is not ready.

"All the rice is ready, the packing is not ready. Today as a whole in Indonesia it is ready, so we launch it simultaneously today so that later the community will accept it together. That's what we do," he added.

As for today, Bulog began distributing a social assistance program of 10 kilograms of rice per beneficiary family (KPM) which was held simultaneously to all regions of Indonesia today. Regarding social assistance recipient data of 21.3 million KPM, data comes from the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos).

He also said that Bulog distributed 213,530 tons of rice per month for the rice social assistance program during March, April, and May or a total of three months with the total amount of rice distributed reaching 640,590 tons.
