Ship Fire Losses In Tegal Estimated To Reach IDR 150 Billion

Director of the Central Java Regional Police and Air, Kombes Hariadi, estimates that the loss due to the fire of dozens of ships at Jongor Port, Tegal City, reached Rp150 billion.

"The initial dose per ship costs Rp. 3 billion, it can reach Rp. 150 billion," Hariadi said when checking the location of the ship fire at Jongor Port, Tegal City, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 15.

A total of 52 ships docked at Jongor Harbor were burned down on Monday (14/8) night. The destroyed ship was owned by 26 businessmen.

According to Hariadi, the evaluation will be carried out following the third ship fire incident at the port.

He explained that coordination was carried out with relevant stakeholders so that loading and unloading activities at Jongor Port could immediately be normal after the fire incident.

Regarding the cause of the fire, Hariadi said this was still under investigation by the Central Java Police Forensic Laboratory team

The fire of dozens of ships was thought to have started when KM Kurnia Jaya was leaning. Strong winds caused the fire to spread quickly to other ships.

In addition, the position of the ship that was narrowed in resulted in fires being affected by many ships.
