JAKARTA - On July 8, a post appeared on a hacker forum offering information allegedly hacked from gaming hardware manufacturer Razer.
"TheHacker stated, "I have stolen source codes, encryption keys, databases, login access backends, etc." The Straits Times said that they saw an example of the user's email address offered by the hacker which claimed to come from a list with a total of 404,000 entries.
The hacker said that "[I] will sell it once" and set a price of 100,000 US dollars (Rp 1.5 billion) in Monero's cryptocurrency (XMR), although lower offerings will also be considered.
Razer announced via a tweet on July 9 that it was investigating possible security breaches. Website BleepingComputer claims to have confirmed the validity of the leaked email address. They also noted that Razer had reset all user accounts and asked users to change passwords.
Razer did not immediately respond to a request for confirmation from Cointelegraph.
News of this hack emerged when Razer was still facing the impact of the data leak that occurred in 2020. On July 10, a court in Singapore heard an appeal filed by information technology vendor Capgemini regarding a lawsuit of US$6.5 million (Rp98.8 billion) given to Razer in December.
