JAKARTA - Google announced several new features that will be coming to Google Classroom and Google Meet, to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of teaching and learning, wherever they are.

"At Google for Education, we are constantly developing new products and tools to help students and teachers improve effectiveness and efficiency in learning and teaching, wherever they are located and however they do it," Google wrote on its official website, quoted Wednesday, July 5.

Some of the new features that will be rolled out to Classroom and Meet are:

Google Classroom

In Google Classroom, the search giant will launch the Read Along feature, to make it easier for teachers to help students hone literacy skills through reading activities. This new application is claimed to make it easier for teachers to run a differentiated learning system and gain insight into student development progress.

In addition, there is also a practice set feature, which will allow teachers to be able to give each student a more relevant treatment by adding their own materials or using suggested ready made materials with the help of AI.

When creating assignments with YouTube videos, teachers will be able to insert interactive questions to test student understanding while watching. The beta version of this feature will be coming soon in English.

Furthermore, in the coming months, Google Classroom will also get Classroom Analytics features, which are intended to help education leaders support teachers and students in new ways and open up more collaboration opportunities.

Google Meet

Not only in Classroom, Google also launched a new feature for Meet. Where later in Meet, tile pairing will allow two people to be highlighted when one of them is speaking. For example a presenter is paired with a sign language interpreter.

Google is also adding question and answer and poll features to livestreams to make it easier to engage with a larger audience. Meanwhile, at Education Plus, we increased the maximum number of Meet participants to 1,000 so you can connect with more school members at once.

"We believe these features will help schools create a safer and more productive learning environment for all students," concluded Google.
