JAKARTA - Chinese telecommunications operator Mobile has received approval to conduct a trial of fifth-generation telecommunications technology from air to land (5G-ATG).
The 5G-ATG trial approval will improve the dimensions of 5G network coverage space, expand the 5G industry opportunity, and meet the needs of aircraft passengers to access the internet with even better quality, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) said while granting 5G-ATG trial approval to China Mobile in Beijing, Friday (5/5).
According to MIIT, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, May 6, 5G-ATG based on 5G telecommunications technology allows communication connections between land and aircraft cabin crews through special base stations and beam-shaped antennas along aircraft routes, both domestically and internationally.
With this technology, MIIT continued, airplane passengers can access the internet from inside the cabin via LAN wireless devices.
