Target To Win 4 SEA Games Cambodia 2023 Gold Medals

JAKARTA – The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) is targeting four gold medals at the 2023 Cambodian SEA Games which will take place from 5 to 17 May.

This target will be borne by the 14 representatives sent, who are a combination of senior and junior players.

For this year's SEA Games, PBSI decided to send names such as Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo and Shesar Hiren Rhustavito. The two of them will spearhead the men's singles with Christian Adinata and Alwi Farhan.

In the women's singles sector, the quartet Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi, Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo, Stephanie Widjaja, and Mutiara Ayu Puspitasari will be the mainstay.

In men's doubles, Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan were entrusted. Meanwhile, in the women's doubles, there are Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma / Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi and Rachel Allessya Rose / Meilysa Trias Puspitasari.

As for mixed doubles, Red-White can hope for the pair Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati and Zachariah Josiahno Sumanti/Hediana Julimarbela.

"With the target of four gold medals, I think this is a strong team because some of them have recently shown quite good achievements," said PBSI Head of Development and Achievement Division Rionny Mainaky in an official statement, Monday, April 10.

This time the SEA Games will be held almost simultaneously with the 2023 Sudirman Cup which will take place on May 14-21 in Suzhou, China. Therefore, PBSI was forced to share strengths for the two events.

Rionny said that did not make him pessimistic. He is sure that adequate preparation will enable the Red and White Team to achieve the target in the biennial event.

"We did share strength with the team for the Sudirman Cup. Indeed, in the Sudirman Cup we fielded the main players, but this one is also not inferior, the level is the same, the achievements are also close," said Rionny.
