Read The FIFA President's Letter Brought By Erick Thohir, Jokowi Immediately Gives Two Important Instructions

PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir has met with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to report the results of his meeting with FIFA in Doha, a few days ago. He also submitted a letter from the President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, to the number one person in Indonesia.

Erick Thohir admitted that he received two instructions from President Jokowi after the former Governor of DKI Jakarta read a letter from Infantino.

"After reading the letter, the President instructed me two things. One immediately made a blue map of the transformation of Indonesian football, which like the President said at that time I had just become the chairman of PSSI," Erick said in a press statement monitored via the YouTube account of the Presidential Secretariat, Friday, March 31.

"The president stressed that this must be completed immediately and must be immediately conveyed to FIFA," he continued.

Second, President Jokowi instructed Erick Thohir to immediately reopen the conversation with FIFA. The hope is that there will be no severe sanctions so that Indonesia will no longer be part of the FIFA extended family.

"So it can be interpreted, Mr. President does not want us to be excluded from the world football map. I will certainly try hard to ensure that Indonesian football transforms occur, not discourse. I will also work hard to re-negotiate with FIFA to avoid sanctions that can occur," he said.

According to Erick Thohir, FIFA actually doesn't expect to impose sanctions on Indonesia either. However, the Minister of SOEs said that in the FIFA letter previously it was clearly stated that the world football parent was studying and considering sanctions for Indonesia

"I am waiting for an invitation from FIFA after their FIFA Council meeting in the next few days. I am preparing to meet FIFA again," said Erick Thohir.

As is known, FIFA has officially revoked Indonesia's status as the host of the U-20 World Cup. In its statement letter, FIFA will also consider sanctions for Indonesia because it is considered to have failed to fulfill its commitment as the host.
