Regarding The Possibility Of Lukas Enembe Being Moved Because He Often Urinates Carelessly, This Is The KPK's Response

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has yet to make a decision regarding the possibility of transferring the inactive Papua Governor Lukas Enembe from the KPK Detention Center Branch, the Merah Putih Building. Discussions on whether or not a special place is needed are still underway.

This possibility opened up after dozens of detainees at the KPK detention center felt disturbed by Lukas' presence. Because he often defecated and urinated carelessly and spit carelessly so that it was considered a health hazard.

"The discussion has not yet come to a conclusion (placed in a special detention center, ed). What will the person be like, will he be in a special place, for example, there are many considerations. Because we make sure that the KPK treats its detainees the same," Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Monday, August 7.

Ali said that special placement is a right for detainees. However, they don't want to rush into a decision.

After all, all this time the KPK has prioritized Lukas' rights even though he is a prison inmate.

"Lukas Enembe's staple food, we replace it with sweet potatoes. That's part of continuing to maintain his health, both physically and mentally. We give him freedom," he said.

Previously, the Legal Advisory and Advocacy Team of Lukas Enembe (TPHALE) submitted a letter of complaint from detainees at the KPK Detention Center. One of those who complained about the condition of the non-active regional head was John Irfan Kenway, the defendant in the AW-101 Helicopter procurement corruption case.

“The following actions have made us prisoners of MP feel uncomfortable and are also very likely to pose a danger to our health, namely urinating in pants on the bed, urinating in pants on a chair in the common room, spitting on the floor or the place where he is," he was quoted as saying in the letter, Friday, August 4.

The detainees also said that Lukas never cleaned himself up after defecating and just slept on a mattress that had never been cleaned or smelled of urine. As a result of this condition, detainees work together to help, such as washing and serving food.

However, they cannot do this continuously. This is because detainees in prison have their own business.

Furthermore, they hope that Lukas will receive treatment from a doctor or medical team. Even if it's needed, to be taken to the hospital.

"Allow us to be busy with our own problems which we are already feeling very heavy and are no longer bothered by feelings of guilt because we feel we are leaving Mr. Lukas Enembe with all his limitations," he said.

"Allow us to live healthy in the MP detention room," he said.
