BPBD Cilacap Regency distributes clean water assistance for affected residents (ANTARA)

CILACAP - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Cilacap Regency, Central Java, stated that the number of villages affected by drought in the region increased to seven villages spread across four sub-districts.

Head of the Cilacap Regency BPBD Emergency and Logistics Division, Budi Setyawan, said the seven villages affected by the drought consisted of Bojong, Kawunganten, and Kubangkung villages in Kawunganten District; Rawapu and Bulupayung villages in Patimuan District; Matenggeng Village in Dayeuhluhur District; and Karanggintung Village in Gandrungmangu District.

However, he said, not all hamlet areas in the seven villages were affected by drought

"A total of 12 hamlets in the seven villages experienced drought with the number of affected residents reaching 8,344 people from 2,764 families," he explained.

In this regard, he said that the Cilacap Regency BPBD as of last Wednesday had distributed 31 tanks of clean water to help residents affected by drought in the area.

According to him, the areas that have absorbed the most clean water aid to date are Bojong Village because there are three hamlets affected by drought, namely Bugelsampang, Jayagiri, and Gunungjaya.

In addition, he said, Bojong Village is the area that was the first to be affected by drought in the 2023 dry season.

"The total clean water assistance that has been distributed to Bojong Village has so far reached 13 tanks with details for Bugelsampang Hamlet as many as six tanks, Jayagiri as many as five tanks, and Gunungjaya as many as two tanks," he said.

Budi further said that the Cilacap Regency BPBD will continue to distribute clean water assistance to people in need.

According to him, the distribution of clean water assistance sourced from the Cilacap Regency Budget for Fiscal Year 2023 will be carried out after the local village government submits a request for assistance to the Cilacap Regency Government (Pemkab).

"We also invite agencies, business, and community organizations to participate in the distribution of clean water assistance because based on the results of the mapping, the drought-prone areas in Cilacap reached 105 villages spread across 20 sub-districts," he explained.
