Permanent Defect Eyes Permanently Perpetrated By Parents Of Students, Teachers In Bengkulu Get Dikbud Assistance

BENGKULU - The Bengkulu Province Education and Culture Office (Dikbud) provides assistance to Zaharman (58), a SMA Negeri 7 teacher in Rejang Lebong Regency who is suspected of being abused by parents of students.

Head of the Bengkulu Province Education and Culture, Saidirman, said that after the incident, teaching and learning activities at the school were temporarily closed.

"Trauma as a result of this incident was not only experienced by teachers who were victims but also other teachers at the school. We have prepared several steps to help overcome the trauma of the victims and the teachers," he said after visiting teachers who were victims of abuse at the AR Bunda Hospital in Lubuklinggau City, South Sumatra (Sumsel), Wednesday, August 2, confiscated by Antara.

He explained that his party provided assistance to victims and other teachers and would hold a coordination meeting with parents or guardians of students at SMAN 7 Rejang Lebong which is located on Jalan Lintas Curup-Lubuklinggau, precisely in Simpang Beliti Village, Binduriang District.

With this coordination meeting, Saidirman hopes that later he can create a sense of security and comfort for teachers at SMAN 7 Rejang Lebong so that teaching and learning activities can resume as before.

The head of the PGRI Bengkulu Province, Haryadi, who also visited the victim, expressed his sorrow for the incident that caused the right side of his right eye to become permanently disabled after being pinned by the parents of the students on Tuesday, August 1.

His party, continued Haryadi, had coordinated with the Bengkulu Police Chief and asked the police to investigate it thoroughly and arrest the perpetrators.

He hopes that similar incidents will not happen again, and the presence of teachers anywhere should be given protection to those who sincerely serve the quality of life of the community.

Meanwhile, Rejang Lebong Police Chief AKBP Juda Trisno Tampubolon explained that the student who was the cause of parents molesting teachers in the area with the initials PD (16), had been questioned and reported back on Zaharman's victim for alleged cases of violence.

Based on PD's statement to the investigating officers, he said, if he did not smoke in the school canteen as accused by the victim, his friend was sitting next to him.

So far, his party is still investigating the case of the abuse of the SMAN 7 Rejang Lebong teacher, considering that there is a different version between what was conveyed by the victim and from the perpetrator's side.

He emphasized that acts of violence in any form are not justified in the eyes of the law. Therefore, he has ordered his staff, including the Padang Ulak Tanding Police, to find the whereabouts of the parents of the students who were perpetrators of the persecution.
