Hotel Occupancy In Bandung Reaches 90 Percent Every Weekend

JAKARTA - The Department of Culture and Tourism (Disbudpar) of Bandung City, West Java, said that now the hotel room occupancy rate in the area has reached 90 percent every weekend.

"Now during the 'weekend', especially 'long weekend', Bandung City is always crowded with tourists with crowded hotels," said Head of Bandung City Disbudpar Arief Syaifudin as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 31.

This, according to Arief, shows the improvement of the tourism sector in the city of Bandung. Based on the data it has, said Arief, from early January to June 2023 there were 2,252,966 tourists visiting the city of Bandung.

This number has increased significantly, where in the first quarter of 2023, the number of visiting tourists reached around 1,422,673 people.

Despite the increase, Arief continued, so far tourist visits to the city of Bandung are still dominated by land routes and domestic tourists.

"Tourist visits are still dominated by land routes. So, they are still controlled by domestic ones, although there are also many tourists from outside the island, for example from islands or other provinces," said Arief.

The Daily Executive (Plh) of the Mayor of Bandung, Ema Sumarna, said the increase in tourism was due to the influence of various events that had been and would be held in the city of Bandung which could increase the tourism sector and bring in many tourists.

Finally, the Asia Africa Festival and the Pocari Run Marathon were successfully implemented last weekend and brought in thousands of tourists.

"I am sure that various 'events' held in Bandung can increase hotel occupancy and bring economic and tourism enthusiasm," said Ema at Bandung City Hall.

Ema said the community's response was very positive in welcoming various events in the city of Bandung, which he said could improve the economy and increase regional income.

"The success of various 'events' and the excellent response of the community are our capital to organize other 'events' in the city of Bandung," he said.
