BALI - The Bali Province Agriculture and Food Security Service (Distan Pangan) explained about the presence of cows infected with rabies in Jembrana, Bali.

Wayan continued, the rabies virus that infects humans and animals has an incubation period of 2-8 weeks.

He explained that rabies-infected animals will experience the same symptoms, such as fear of the sun, fear of water, fear of crowds and frequent hiding.

"The cow infected with rabies in Jembrana is raging, meaning that she has been infected with a crazy dog, she is going crazy who was bitten. Whether it's cows, pigs, humans and other animals being bitten, they will definitely be infected," said Sunada.

As a result of the findings of one cow infected with rabies to death in Jembrana Regency. The Bali Food Agency also appealed to farmers to be aware of rabies for pets.

From his records alone, so far this year there have been 19 thousand bites by rabies-contaging animals in Bali, of which four people died as a result of being positive for rabies.

"We have worked hard, our target is that in 2024 humans or people who die because of dogs are no longer there and our vaccine is sufficient because last night around 60 thousand doses came," he said.

Apart from dogs, rabies-contagious animals such as monkeys must also be watched out for because a rabies positive monkey was found in Tabanan.

"My hope is for the community if there is a family of dogs, monkeys, cats so that they can be vaccinated. If the monkey who has been vaccinated belongs to the resident, if we limit the dog interacting with the monkey, if there is a dog roaming, it is immediately taken out or eliminated," he concluded.
