KPU Samarinda Replaces 40 PPK And PPS Secretariats

The General Election Commission (KPU) of Samarinda City, East Kalimantan, was forced to replace around 40 sub-district staff at the sub-district level, namely the District Election Committee (PPK) and the Voting Committee (PPS) at the village level.

"About 40 of these secretariat staff must be replaced because they have been transferred since June 9, 2023. Meanwhile, the total number of officials transferred at that time was 122 people," said a member of the KPU Samarinda, Socialization Division, Voter Education, Community Participation and Human Resources Najib quoted from Antara, Sunday, June 25.

Some 40 of the secretariat staff were previously registered as the secretary and members of PPK and PPS.

They are part of the PPK and PPS secretariats because they were previously registered as secretaries and staff in sub-districts and sub-districts, but as of June 9, mutations were carried out to a number of other agencies, both regional, sub-district and sub-district organizations.

Those who have been transferred include Sujono, previously as Secretary of Samarinda District who is also Secretary of PPK Samarinda Seberang District, but now he has transferred to other agencies.

Meanwhile, the village level included Saiful, who previously served as Secretary of the North Sempaja Village as well as the Secretary of the local PPS, so he had to be replaced for moving duties to other agencies.

"When the PPK secretary and PPS move assignments to other places, they do not automatically become PPK secretaries or PPS in new places because the officers are already filled, except in the new place there is also a mutation with the same position, but a new decree must be made from the Samarinda KPU because the SK is mentioned as well as position," said Najib.

For this reason, the KPU Samarinda on Monday, June 26 will submit a letter of application to the mayor of Samarinda to replace the transferred secretary and members of the PPK, while for the replacement of the secretary and members of the PPS, it is enough to submit from the respective village heads.

Najib also said that the PPK's task in organizing elections included helping the KPU in carrying out the election stages at the sub-district level, receiving and submitting a list of voters to district/city KPUs, and collecting vote count results from all PPS in the sub-district working area.

Meanwhile, PPS' duties and authorities include helping the KPU and PPK update voter data, temporary voter lists, improved voter lists, and permanent voter lists, verifying and recapitulating individual candidates' support.
