PP Muhammadiyah Appreciates Jokowi's Extension Of Eid Al-Fitr

JAKARTA - The Muhammadiyah Central Executive thanked President Joko Widodo for extending the Eid al-Adha 2023 holiday from just one day on June 29, to three days, from June 28 to 30.

"PP Muhammadiyah would like to thank President Joko Widodo for announcing the three-day holiday in the context of Eid al-Adha on 28, 29, and 30 (June)," said PP Muhammadiyah Chairman Haedar Nashir after the inauguration of SM Tower and Convention, Yogyakarta, quoted from Antara, Saturday 24 June.

According to Haedar, President Jokowi's policy means that differences are accommodated and appreciated by the state.

"So there is no need to argue about the (holiday) on the 28 or 29 especially until it becomes a problem," he said.

In addition to providing concessions for holidays, he said, the government also allows public facilities for different Eid celebration activities.

According to him, it is not only Muhammadiyah that celebrates Eid al-Adha on June 28, but many other components of Muslims celebrate on the same date.

However, Haedar appealed to all Muhammadiyah residents and the public in general to increase tolerance by respecting each other's differences.

"We must tolerate each other. There is an appeal from Muhammadiyah for community members whose community is indeed on the 28th to slaughter well, there is no problem, but we respect those who slaughter the next day or the next day, until tasyrik day," he said.

Previously, Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Thursday, June 22 signed Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 16 of 2023 concerning the Second Amendment to Presidential Decree No. 24 of 2022 concerning Joint Leave with State Civil Apparatus Employees (ASN) in 2023.

The 16/2023 Presidential Decree was issued as a follow-up to the Joint Decree (SKB) of the Minister of Religion, the Minister of Manpower, and the Minister for Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform which set June 28 and 30, 2023 as a joint leave for Eid al-Adha 1444 Hijri/2023 AD.
