KPK Admits Disadvantage Of Extortion In Detention Center, Apologizes And Promises To Completely Investigate

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) apologized for the findings of alleged illegal levies (extortion) that occurred at the East Jakarta Class I Rutan at the KPK Red and White Building branch. They are ready to investigate anyone involved.

Yayuk said, the investigation will certainly run transparently. The public is asked to continue to monitor the development of this case.

"We will commit to resolving this transparently and also invite the public to participate in guarding this case," he said.

Meanwhile, the Secretary General of the KPK, Cahya H. Harefa, stated that a team would be formed to investigate disciplinary actions of the employees involved. "By involving cross-units," he said.

This team will also improve the governance of detention centers involving internal and external parties. This step is one of the long-term efforts to prevent similar cases from happening.

As previously reported, the KPK Supervisory Board found allegations of illegal levies at the KPK Detention Center. The value is fantastic, reaching billions of rupiah and carried out for five months.
