SAMARINDA - The District Attorney for Samarinda City, East Kalimantan, has acquitted two suspects in a general criminal case through a restorative justice process marked by the release of a prison vest as well as wearing ordinary clothes.

"Now the status of these two people is no longer a suspect because they have been returned to their original state, after the victim and the victim's family have forgiven, and both have promised not to repeat their actions," said Samarinda City Attorney General Firmansyah Subhand, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 22.

The two suspects who received exemption through restorative justice were Muhiddin in the case of theft of cellphones and Sahala in the case of domestic violence (KDRT) against his son.

Restorative justice was given after Kajari Samarinda issued a Decree on Termination of Prosecution (SKP2) against two suspects, namely Muhiddin and Sahala Reibdhart.

Before the SKP2 was issued, Kajari Samarinda held a presentation in front of the Deputy Attorney General for General Crimes at the AGO to stop the charges against the case, which then received approval.

"Of course we are also happy because the victim has forgiven, then the suspects realized their mistakes, apologized, and promised not to repeat their mistakes again. The most important thing is sincerity, forgiveness, and realizing what has been done," said Firmansyah.

Given that the victim has forgiven, Kajari advised the two of them to do better in the family, be responsible, and live a better life.

Meanwhile, Sondang Tua Lestari as the Public Crime Prosecutor of the Samarinda Kejari, who facilitated the domestic violence case with the suspect Sahala, said that Sahala's son had forgiven his father's actions, as well as Sahala's wife had also forgiven.

"I was appointed to facilitate the domestic violence case, so I called Sahala's wife and her child. They were willing to forgive. At that time his wife reported that there was domestic violence because the atmosphere was hot because the two were having an argument, then they were vented to the child due to minor problems," said Sondang.

He also said mentally that the condition of the child (victim) had recovered and had no grudges with his father, then physically it was okay based on the results of the doctor's examination so that when they wanted to make peace, his party facilitated him.
